FEED-CODE PROJECT presentato alla manifestazione casearia "Le Vie del Carmasciano" Le vie del Carmasciano V Edizione 3 ottobre 2015 Rocca San Felice (AV) Irpinia   Nell'ambito della V edizione della manifestazione "Le vie del Carmasciano", organizzata a Rocca San Felice (AV) dall'Ordine dei Medici Veterinari della Provincia di Avellino e dall’Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale del Mezzogiorno, con i servizi veterinari dell'ASL AV e con l'Associazione Produttori Pecorino di Carmasciano, il Dottor Angelo Biscione,  della Mediterranea Biotech s.r.l., partner del consorzio FEED CODE, ha presentato il progetto "Animal feed certification instrument and procedure to guarantee the quality of meat and dairy products through automatic, simple and rapid DNA barcode method based on tubulin-based polymorphism (TBP) Il Pecorino di Carmasciano è un Prodotto Agroalimentare Tradizionale Campano (Ministero delle Politiche Agricole Alimentari e Forestali), la cui area di produzione abbraccia diversi comuni dell’avellinese. Il formaggio, prodotto con il latte di pecora di diverse razze, tra cui la bagnolese e la laticauda, letteralmente “dalla coda larga”, è fortemente condizionato dalla qualità delle erbe consumate nell'area di Carmasciano ed è molto apprezzato per il gusto caratteristico dovuto anche all'influenza dei composti solforati provenienti dalla Mefite (zona del vulcano spento nella Valle di Ansanto). La tipicità è sostenuta sicuramente dall'attenzione alla qualità dei consumatori che percepiscono i prodotti tipici come unici, associati ad attività artigianali, oltre che basati su materie prime e tecniche produttive a minore impatto  ambientale. Il carattere specifico delle produzioni e la possibilità di riconoscere e certificare la qualità possono rappresentare uno strumento fondamentale per favorire il consolidamento e lo sviluppo della agricoltura. Anche la normativa comunitaria sullo sviluppo rurale prevede supporto alla partecipazione degli agricoltori a sistemi di qualità nazionale.  In questo contesto si inserisce il sistema FEED CODE che consente, mediante un'analisi basata sul DNA, di determinare le specie vegetali che compongono l'alimento animale. FEED-CODE PROJECT was presented at the dairy event "Le Vie del Carmasciano" 5th Edition of "Le vie del Carmasciano" Rocca San Felice (AV) Irpinia, 3/10/2015 In the fifth edition of the event "Le vie del Carmasciano", doctor Angelo Biscione (from Mediterranea Biotech s.r.l., partner within the group FEED-CODE) presented the project "Animal feed certification instrument and procedure to guarantee the quality of meat and dairy products through automatic, simple and rapid DNA barcode method based on tubulin-based polymorphism (TBP)". The event  "Le vie del Carmasciano", held in Rocca San Felice (AV), was organised by the Veterinary Medical Association of Avellino and the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale del Mezzogiorno, in collaboration with the veterinary services of ASL (AV) and the Association Produttori Pecorino di Carmasciano. The cheese “Il Pecorino di Carmasciano” is a Product Agribusiness Traditional of Campania (Ministero delle Politiche Agricole Alimentari e Forestali); the geographic area of production includes several towns within Avellino district. This cheese, produced with milk from several sheep races (e.g. bagnolese and laticauda*), is strongly affected from the quality of the grass consumed in the Carmasciano area and is also very much appreciated for its characteristic taste due to the influence of sulphurated compounds from Mefite (the area surrounding the extinct volcano in the Ansanto valley). It’s well known that the consumers pay attention to the quality and the typicality, perceiving the typical products as unique; they also know and appreciate that this uniqueness originates from craft activities involving the use of production techniques and raw materials with a low environmental impact. The specific nature of productions, together with the possibility to recognise and certificate the quality, represent an important tool to support the strengthening and development of the agricultural sector. The Community legislation on the rural development also envisages support to the farmers' participation into systems of national quality. In this context, the system FEED-CODE allows to determine the vegetable species composing the animal feed through a DNA-based analysis. POSTER.pdf
